Happy Pancake Day! Quick n Easy Pancakes for breakfast!

  • 2 min read

What will you have your breakfast with this morning? Will it be a fresh cup of coffee and pancakes, or will you save it for later?

If you fancy whipping up a quick batch of pancakes, here’s a recipe for easy reference.

Grab a bowl, a whisk, plenty of oil and let's get mixing!!

Ingredients -

100g Plain Flour

250ml of Milk

Pinch of Salt

1 Free Range Egg

Toppings

What do you love yours with? Here are the classics (which will you choose?):

  • Lemon Juice and Sugar
  • Maple Syrup
  • Chocolate / Strawberry / Caramel Sauce
  • Fruit - Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Banana
  • Bacon and maple syrup (if you fancy an american breakfast style!)

How to make Pancakes -

Start by measuring your flour out and sifting this into a large bowl with salt. Then make a well in the centre of the flour, as it is here we will crack our egg.

Give it a mix, then whisk in the milk gradually, ensuring you are lifting all the flour from the sides of the bowl into the centre.

After mixing all your ingredients, leave it to stand for around 10 minutes. If you have found your mixture is too thick, just add some more milk until it is a watery consistency. It needs to be just right so that it can be poured into the pan.

Turn on the hob, and get your pan nice and hot. Make sure you add oil and when the oil begins to smoke, that's your cue to start pouring!

You want to be spooning in around a ladle of batter and then swirling this around the pan so it reaches the base.

Make sure you cook this until its golden brown on the bottom, then give it a flip! But try not to stick it to the ceiling!

Once you have a golden pancake, you're ready to serve up with your favourite choice of Owens Coffee, of course!
