What we did
One of the aims of the day was to give the two winners Rachel and Maddie, along with Dawn, Gershwins Head of Accounts and Administration, a real insight into the background story of how coffee is produced and roasted so that they can pass this on to their clients. They all had a tour of the roastery with Owens Coffee owner Lorraine Bridden, paying particular attention to our new eco Loring roaster. Leanne, our Customer Services and Training officer gave an insight into why Owens is all about organic and fair-trade and what this means for us as a business. With interesting facts on the differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, she then had a Q & A session finished off with a top up Latte Art training session. The afternoon was finished off with prize giving and photos! Rachel and Maddie left feeling well equipped to discuss the coffee they serve, as well as sampling fabulous coffee throughout the session.
