Are you fascinated by those designs on the surface of your latte? Do you want to elevate your coffee game and learn the secrets behind creating stunning latte art? Do you know where to start?

Our Latte Art Course is designed to help you unlock your creative potential and take your coffee game to the next level. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, our course will equip you with the essential skills and techniques to create beautiful latte art.

Let's dive into some frequently asked questions to give you a better idea of what to expect and to give you some tips to start trying at home:

How long does it take to master latte art?

On our course, you will learn all the essentials to set you on your journey to becoming a latte art expert. However, it's important to note that everyone's journey is unique. Mastering the art of latte requires daily practice and patience. Some people will instantly make great attempts at creating designs, while others may feel nervous and not produce something they're completely satisfied with, especially when they are learning in a room with other people. However, it's not uncommon for individuals to surprise themselves by producing fantastic designs once they have the basics down. We've already had a couple of people who have been on our course tell us that they've been really excited to produce something special once they got home and had a go in their own time. Remember, practice makes perfect!

Can I make latte art using instant coffee?

No, you can't make latte art with instant coffee or a milk frother. You will need an espresso machine to make the espresso base, and your machine should also have a high-pressure milk steamer. Instant coffee doesn't provide the necessary consistency and texture to achieve the desired results.

Is there a better or best technique I should use?

Just like any art form, latte art techniques vary from person to person. However, there are fundamental principles that form the basis for creating a perfect crema base. Our course will teach you these essential techniques, giving you a solid foundation to build upon.

Which is the best latte art design to start with?

We recommend starting with the latte art heart design. It's a classic pattern that allows you to practice pouring techniques and develop the necessary control over the milk. Mastering the heart design will provide you with the confidence and skills to tackle more intricate patterns in the future.

What if I'm worried about being judged by others or by the course instructors?

Rest assured, our courses are judgment-free zones! This isn't a competition; it's about making you feel comfortable and helping you develop the basics of latte art. We've all been beginners at some point, and our instructors are here to support and encourage you throughout your learning journey.

What if I've never used an espresso machine before?

No worries! We've taught many individuals who were new to using espresso machines. If you're a complete beginner and have just purchased an espresso machine for home use, we recommend attending our Home Barista Masterclass before considering the latte art course. The Home Barista Masterclass focuses on enhancing the quality and consistency of your coffee, which we believe is even more important than presenting the coffee. However, if you're eager to dive into the latte art course without any prior experience, you're more than welcome! It's all about having fun and enjoying the process.

Can I come by myself?

Absolutely! Across all of our courses in the past, many people attend solo. We pair individuals up, and if there's an odd number, one of our team members will join to ensure everyone has a partner. Our environment fosters a sense of camaraderie, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive experience for all participants.

Will I drink a lot of coffee while I'm learning?

While you can certainly enjoy some coffee and have tasters during the course, you're not obligated to drink it all. The focus is on practice and perfecting your presentation skills. So don't worry – there's plenty of fun to be had without consuming excessive amounts of caffeine.

What type of milk do you recommend for latte art?

For optimal results, we recommend using barista-edition milks for latte art whenever possible. If barista cow's milk isn't available, whole milk (rather than skimmed or semi-skimmed) is recommended. However, we also encourage practicing with plant-based milks. It's important to get the technique right and understand the differences. If using plant-based milk, make sure it's a barista edition though or you will struggle to get the best effects.

I'm a vegan and I don't want to use cow's milk. Do I have to use cow's milk for latte art?

Not at all! Barista edition plant-based milk works well for latte art. For anyone attending our course who prefers to use plant-based milks exclusively, we fully support your choice. We want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy the experience.

If I've already practiced latte art at home or have a basic technique, can I go further?

Absolutely! We always strive to help individuals improve their skills. If you've already mastered the patterns covered in our course (heart, monks head, tulip, and rosetta), we don't recommend this essentials workshop. However, if you've only practiced a few of these designs and want to enhance your abilities, our course can still provide valuable insights and techniques. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to practice with like-minded coffee enthusiasts and have a blast!

Do I need to learn on a commercial machine or a domestic machine?

You can learn on either type of machine. You don't need a commercial-grade espresso machine at home to create great latte art. However, it's important to have a machine with a high-pressure milk steamer (ideally no less than 5 to 9 bar) to achieve the desired milk texture. Our course allows you to practice on both commercial and domestic machines, enabling you to apply your skills across different equipment.
