New year, new start, welcome Sara!

  • 2 min read

New year, new start, and we are delighted to welcome Sara Corcoran to Owens. Sara worked previously with Ashridge Cider for over 10 years, and now joins us to provide some much needed managerial support.

Sara lives in Ivybridge, which is fantastic planning, as we will be moving our head office there in the next few months! She has 5 children between her and her husband Dave and a Springer spaniel called Baxter (there is a reason for his name-see below!). With the two youngest boys still at school and gearing up for their GCSE’s, life is very busy in the Corcoran household, but Sara says she is really looking forward to a new challenge and being part of the fab team at Owens. Mad keen on Exeter Chiefs (hence Baxter’s name!), cider and gin, we hope Sara will enjoy working with coffee for a change.

If you are thinking of turning your 2018 into an organic year, why not try our new single estate coffee Finca La Lima from Peru. Farmer and producer Luis Ricardo Ramos Vilchez started cultivating coffee at a young age helping out on his parents’ farm, La Lima. For him, to produce great quality coffee you need a lot of dedication and love for the bean!

All the coffee is washed and sundried after harvest, and then quality checked by Sol & Cafe, the cooperative that Luis belongs to, to ensure the first class standards required to be certified 100% organic are met. This is a really delicious cup of coffee; the tasting profile is cherry, citrus, chocolate, vanilla, lemongrass & caramel.

We are delighted to add it to our extensive range of organic and fair-trade coffees, and our coffee roaster Leanne says that if you compare a coffee to a celebrity, Finca La Lima is Antonio Banderas! Worth a try in 2018 then…
