Three of the Best Espresso Martini Recipes Using an Aeropress

  • 2 min read

We brought the Owens Coffee team together to make three of the best Espresso Martini recipes that you can make at home.

For our coffee cocktails with a slight twist on the traditional Espresso Martini recipe, we made three versions using an AeroPress, Monin syrups and the all-important boozy ingredient(s), to create a Vanilla Espresso Martini, Hazelnut Espresso Martini and Salted Caramel Espresso Martini.

Our favourites were the hazelnut and salted caramel cocktails. These were a little bit sweeter, which we liked. If you're someone with a penchant for something a little less sweet, you may prefer the vanilla version.

To make the strong coffee for the drink we used an inverted AeroPress technique.

Here is what we did…

- Place the plunger inside the chamber so that the AeroPress is balancing with the cap end facing upwards.

- Empty 30g of fine-medium ground coffee into the inverted AeroPress.

- Pour 50ml of water just off the boil over the coffee grounds, wait 30 seconds then stir twice.

- After 30 seconds pour an additional 50-60mL of water over the coffee and wait for 120 seconds.

- Screw the cap, with a filter paper inside, onto the chamber of the inverted AeroPress.

- Flip the AeroPress carefully (and quickly) on top of your cup, it is now the correct way up!

- Press the plunger down firmly until it reaches the coffee bed.

You should end up with around 50-60ml of strong black coffee, which is perfect for the base of a coffee cocktail. For all of the cocktails we used our Baya blend

We thought that the rich and spicy flavours would complement the vodka/rum/coffee liqueur well… which it did!

Ingredients for best espresso martini recipes

Best Espresso Martini Recipe, Number One:

Hazelnut Espresso Martini

- 50ml of Coffee Rum (we used Kalkar)
- 10-20ml of Monin Hazelnut Syrup
- 50ml of Strong AeroPress Coffee (we used our Baya coffee)

Best Espresso Martini Recipe, Number Two:

Salted Caramel Espresso Martini

- 25ml of Vodka (we used Absolute)
- 25ml of Coffee Liqueur (we used Kahlúa)
- 10-20ml of Monin Salted Caramel Syrup
- 50ml of Strong AeroPress Coffee

Best Espresso Martini Recipe, Number Three:

Vanilla Espresso Martini

- 25ml of Vodka
- 25ml of Coffee Rum
- 10-20ml of Monin Vanilla Syrup
- 50ml of Strong AeroPress Coffee

The method for making the drink is easy and consistent for all three of these cocktails:

Chill the coffee from the AeroPress. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail mixer filled with 2/3 ice. Cap, shake well and strain into a chilled serving glass. Wait for the foam to separate and settle before garnishing with a few coffee beans.

We hope that you love these cocktails as much as we did. Why not give one of these a go? Or invite friends around and try recreating all three? Have a tasting, score the drinks and decide which you enjoy the most!

Be sure to let us know how you get on!
