The weather may be chilly at the moment but you can be sure of a great cup of Owens coffee and a warm welcome from the team at Penrose Kitchen, a vibrant new restaurant in Shortlanesend, Truro in Cornwall.
It is a fabulous venue all year round, with superb outdoor seating, and surrounded by tranquil lily ponds. However, this time of year is our favourite – with cosy, snuggly sofas and a log burner. Perfect for families or mums to meet up during the day with lots of space for prams, push chairs and a play area too (Cornish weather dependent). The kids menu is amazing value at only £6 for a hot meal, or sandwiches and crisps, followed by a scoop of ice cream or some jelly. Perfect for a romantic evening meal for two, perfect for a wedding or party! It is a lovely spot for everyone, wrapped up in a super friendly atmosphere. All the food served is local, seasonal, quality and fresh, owners Ben and Sam are truly passionate about this. The kitchen is open daily Tuesday – Sunday, and is then transformed into a relaxed, fully licensed bistro for dinner every Friday and Saturday. The menu is constantly evolving, and all food is cooked to order. Try the Sunday lunch; they serve Yorkshire puddings with every one!
Penrose Kitchen are members of Taste of the West, as are Owens. Taste of the West is a unique membership organisation for food and drink producers, distributors, restaurants, cafes, pubs, hotels, farm shops and speciality retailers in the South West – all passionate about the provenance and quality of the products they make, serve or sell. They are only seconds from Penrose Water Gardens, so if you are visiting, or local, why not pop in and see for yourself?
Yet another place to visit and enjoy a cup of Owens Coffee, maybe we will start a West Country trail for you to taste amazing food, service and coffee at each stop!
