Welcome to our Limited Edition Las Damas Colombia Coffee
Welcome to the second coffee in our Las Damas range, celebrating female founded and female led coffee growing cooperatives and organisations.
Founded in 1995 by Aurora Izquierdo, ANEI is an organization of 700 native agroecological producers and farmers from families belonging to 4 indigenous communities (Arhuacos, Koguis, Kankuamos and Wiwas) in northern Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serranía del Perijá regions.
Aurora was the first Arhuaca-native woman from the community of Yewrwa to study in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital and her objective has alwaysbeen to help her native and farmer communities thrive thorough growing and selling coffee.
Focussing on growing coffee using eco-sustainable programs and projects helps further strengthen the ANEI operation to maintain social, economic and cultural traditions and rights for the communities of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serranía del Perijá.
ANEI also promotes the food security of the communities while reinforcing the value of agricultural products and processes that help take care of nature and humans side by side and "within a context of harmony and respect for mother earth."

As a female-founded business, it was important to us at Owens to ensure that the women in our supply chain are treated fairly too. So we created our Las Damas or 'The Ladies' range of organic and Fairtrade specialty grade coffees, all of which support female coffee farmers, growers and workers. So by purchasing any of our Las Damas coffees, you’re directly participating in this movement, enjoying a coffee that’s not only delicious but also contributing to a brighter future for women and their families in coffee-growing regions.
