Mothers are to be cherished, and Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

This year Mothering Sunday falls on the 31st of March.

These days we are all busy with work, family and life in general so Mothers Day is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your all important Mum. This is your chance to show how grateful you are that she is in your life, after all, being a mum can be a challenge, a full time (24/7) job!

Did you know that in the UK, Mother’s Day was originally a day for Christians to visit their mother church back home during the holy month of Lent? The day as we know it in the UK is called Mothering Sunday, Mother’s Day is actually the American name for the day. The revival of Mothering Sunday can be attributed to Constance Smith, who was inspired by reading a newspaper report of Anna Jarvis from the USA, who was inspired by her own mother: the woman who did more for her than anyone in the world to reintroduce the celebration.

If you are looking for inspiration for your special mum, why not treat her to the gift of coffee? Perhaps a gift card for one of our Owens Academy of Coffee training courses for you to do together? Dates are being added all the time, and you can learn all about the coffee making process, with an introduction to coffee machines, home barista skills and a basic knowledge of coffee beans and quality, all whilst having fun! Or maybe one of our gift boxes - packed with lots of goodies and ranging from £15 to £50.

We have lots of coffee and kit in our little shop at our Roastery in Ivybridge, so visit us for some ideas and advice, or go online at www.owenscoffee.com

At Owens Coffee we would like to wish all of our ‘Mum’ customers a very happy day!
