The Bakehouse is a real treat! Located in Cullompton, the owners Penelope and Lyla will welcome you to a beautiful setting where old world and original features meet with a modern industrial twist. It is a great place to stop if you are heading up or down the M5, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Soak up the history accompanied by perfect music, and a slightly noisy kitchen!
Everything is made from scratch, locally sourced and prepared by talented chefs and a friendly team. It is difficult to know where to start when talking about the food here: there is so much choice and everything looks delicious (check out the reviews on Trip Advisor).
The breakfasts are amazing, with everything from traditional English breakfast to poached eggs, prosciutto ham and spinach in a creamy wholegrain mustard sauce on granary toast. Lunch can be a mug of soup with a toastie, or something more substantial, there are cream teas and Penelope’s mouth-watering cakes in the afternoon. In the evenings there are tempting tapas, succulent steaks and various different platters to choose from!
All of their dishes are freshly prepared by the kitchen. They source local, seasonal ingredients wherever possible, to help support the local community, which produces stylish, honest and tasty food. All washed down with our own fabulous Owens coffee! Wednesday evenings is Pizza & Pasta night serving up 12 different varieties in pizzas all served on an authentic homemade Italian style thin crust.
The wine bar is open on Thursday – Saturday evenings, offering cocktails, spirits and an extensive wine list covering the whites of Italy, France & Australasia to the reds of Spain, Latin America and South Africa.
Another fabulous spot to drink your Owens coffee!
