It will soon be Mothering Sunday, and at Owens Coffee we are thinking about all the fantastic mothers out there. Did you know the origin of Mothers Day dates back to the ancient Greeks and Romans? The earliest history of Mothers Day dates back to the ancient annual spring festival the Greeks dedicated to maternal goddesses. The Greeks used the occasion to honour Rhea, wife of Cronus and the mother of many deities of Greek mythology. Ancient Romans, too, celebrated a spring festival, called Hilaria dedicated to Cybele, a mother goddess.
It is a great opportunity to spoil your mum and show your appreciation for all she does for you. If you live in Plymouth, why not try our friends at Rocksalt cafe & Brasserie? Plymouth is full of hidden gems and this is one of them.
Rocksalt is tucked away in Stonehouse Street, and they pride themselves on using locally sourced, top quality, sustainable ingredients.
Warm, welcoming and fantastic food, it doesn’t get much better than that, followed by Owens coffee, of course. Book your Mother’s Day lunch now!
